Vicente Ferrer Foundation USA, Inc. (“VFF USA”, “we”, or “us”) has created the following Privacy and Security Policy (“Privacy Policy”) to inform you of the following: what information we collect, when we collect it, how and why we collect it, how we use it, how we protect it, how we share it, and what choices you have regarding our collection and use of this information.

This Privacy Policy applies to http://www.vffusa.org (hereinafter the “Site”) and to any other social media account, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc., linked to the Site.   Entering the Site constitutes your acceptance and agreement to the terms contained in this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree with the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy, please do not continue to browse the Site. By using this Site, you agree that we may collect, use, disclose, and transfer your Personal Information (as defined below) in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

VFF USA will not collect any Personal Information about you (that is, your name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address) unless you provide it to VFF USA voluntarily.  You are not required to provide any personal information as a condition of using our Site, except as may be necessary in order to reply to a comment or question.

This Site is not intended for persons under the age of 18, and we have no intention of collecting or soliciting Personal Information from persons under the age of 18.  If you are not 18 or older, you are not authorized to use the Site.  If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with Personal Information without their consent, he or she should contact us at info@vffusa.org immediately.  If become aware that a child under age 18 has provided us with Personal Information, we will use all reasonable efforts to delete such information from our files.

Our Site may contain links to other websites.  We do not exercise control over third party websites.  When you click on a link to any other website or location, you will leave our Site and another entity may collect personal and/or non-personal information from you.  We have no control over, do not review, and are not responsible for these outside websites or their content.  The terms of this Privacy Policy do not apply to these outside websites or content, or to any collection of data after you click on links to such outside websites.

  • What types of information does VFF USA collect?

VFF USA collects and uses information about you to communicate with you about our programs and activities.  More specifically, VFF USA collects your name, your address, your e-mail address, your phone (or mobile) number, and information on how you are using the Site (“Personal Information”).  Here are the ways VFF USA obtains information about you:

  • When you request information about our programs and activities from the Site or your linked social media.
  • When you connect with us via phone, mail, email, or on social media platforms.
  • When you visit the Site or participate in interactive features of the Site.
  • When you use a social media service, for example, our Facebook page or YouTube channel.
  • When you sign up for our monthly newsletter, mobile messages, or social media notifications from us.
  • When you enter a contest or sweepstakes, respond to one of our surveys, or participate in a focus group.

  • How does VFF USA use your information?

When you provide VFF USA with Personal Information, VFF USA may use that information in the following ways: VFF USA may store and process that information to better understand your needs and how we can improve our programs and activities; VFF USA may use that information to contact you; and VFF USA may provide that information to third parties in connection with referrals, recommendations, or references as otherwise described herein.

The personal data you disclose to VFF USA remains at VFF USA and/or with data processors or servers acting on VFF USA’s behalf and responsible to VFF USA.  VFF USA may disclose the personal data collected to third party service providers in connection with services that they perform for VFF USA, such as conducting surveys and e-mail and direct mail delivery services.  Your personal data will not otherwise be passed on by VFF USA or its agents for use by third parties in any form whatsoever, unless VFF USA obtains your consent, is legally required to do so, such as to comply with law or a legal request such as a subpoena, to protect the company’s rights, property or interests, or in the event of a sale of assets or other corporate restructuring.

If you choose to link your social media to the Site, VFF USA will not post, message, like, comment, tweet, reply, or share any information without your explicit consent.

  • How Long Does VFF Keep Your Personal Information?

At VFF, we believe in maintaining a lifelong relationship with our community members.  As such, unless otherwise required by applicable law, we typically will maintain a record for you.  To opt-out of marketing related e-mail communications, you can email us at info@vffusa.org.

  • Information Protection.

VFF USA shall endeavor and shall take every precaution to maintain adequate physical, procedural and technical security with respect to our offices and information storage facilities so as to prevent any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or modification of your Personal Information under our control.

  • Technologies Used

In some cases, VFF USA may collect information about you that is not personally identifiable (“Non-Personal Information”).  Examples of this type of information include the type of Internet browser you are using, the type of computer operating system you are using, and the domain name or IP address of the site from which you linked to our Site.

5.1. Use of Cookies  

VFF USA may use cookies to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit and the information for which you searched and which you viewed.  “Cookies” are a string of information that is sent by a website to be resident on your system’s hard drive (“Persistent Cookies”), and/or temporarily in your computer’s memory blocks (“Session Cookies”).  Cookies allow websites and various third parties to distinguish your device from others by having the Cookie consist of a unique identifier or other data.  Session Cookies expire after you close your web browser, and Persistent Cookies stay on your computer until you delete them.  Persistent Cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.  You may set your browser to decline cookies.  If you do so, however, you may not be able to fully experience all features of the Site.

5.2. Local Shared Objects

Local shared objects (such as “Flash Cookies”) are associated with non-browser software like Flash Player.  Local shared objects can be used like cookies to distinguish your device from others, but will not be deleted or blocked using browser cookie controls.  You can visit adobe.com for guidance on how to delete and block Flash Cookies.

5.3. HTML5 Local Storage

HTML5 local storage is another way that browsers can distinguish your device from others as well as remember data that may be important for the functioning of the website.  Typically, HTML5 local storage is only deleted if all Internet history, cache, and cookies are deleted.  You should check your browser software for how to delete HTML5 local storage in your particular case.

5.4. Web Beacons

Web beacons are image files that are used by third-party advertisers, analytics companies, and others.  Web beacons are embedded in web pages you visit and cause your browser to share its IP address with the third-party source of the beacon, together with any cookies associated with that third-party.  Web beacons can be used with or without cookies.  Blocking cookies will not stop your IP address from being shared through the use of beacons.

5.5. E-tags

E-tags are used to prevent duplicative downloading of content to your browser, which can enhance browser performance.  E-tags use unique identifiers for content that can also be used to distinguish your browser in certain instances from others.  Typically, e-tags are only deleted if all Internet history, cache, and cookies are deleted.  You should check your browser software for how to delete e-tags in your particular case.

  • Notice to California Residents.

If you interact with our Site and services while physically located in California you need to review our Notice to California Residents, which supplements the information contained in this Privacy Policy, before continuing to browse our Site.

The constant development of the internet requires occasional adjustments to our privacy statement. VFF USA retains the right to make changes when necessary, and will communicate any updates promptly on this page.  Please check back periodically.
