Unleashing the Full Potential of Children and
Youth Through Sports for Development
Participation in sports is necessary for the growth and holistic development of children and promotes their physical, social and emotional health. The benefits of sports go beyond physical wellbeing; it also teaches children values such as honesty, teamwork, fair play, and respect for themselves and others.
In addition to education, we focus on sports as an opportunity to support and strengthen children from underprivileged communities in rural India, in order to give them hope for a self-determined future and to break the cycle of poverty. We provide them with quality and sustainable access to sports coaching, infrastructure, and equipment in sports such as cricket, football, hockey, tennis, and judo, along with a focus on education, nutrition and career development.
India is a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage that is important to preserve. In addition, culture is an important tool to build awareness about social issues. By encouraging lyricists and role-playing, we cocreate cultural content that provokes thought and action against issues like early marriage, HIV and AIDS, violence against women, and girls’ education, to bring about a positive change in people’s mindsets.

The Success Story of Mounika
There is no place where Mounika is more comfortable than on the soccer pitch. Originally from Atmakur, a town near Anantapur, this 20-year-old has opened new doors for herself since she joined the soccer program at the Anantapur Sports Academy (ASA), our partner organization that advances opportunities and inclusion through sports in rural India.
A daughter of daily wage laborers, she has overcome all obstacles with much effort and courage to become the first female coach at the Atmakur Sports Development Center.
