Rural Development Trust Helps Rural Communities Badly Affected By Flooding

December 13, 2021

Did you hear about the severe flooding that hit rural India last month? Some residents in Andhra Pradesh have lost their homes and income sources — on top of the impact they suffered from #COVID. Our partner on the ground, the Rural Development Trust (RDT) is doing everything it can, and more, to help these communities recover.

RDT emergency relief teams are distributing basic provisions and essential items to over 5,000 families in Chittoor district and over 6,500 families in Nellore district.

In Nellore, RDT together with the Lions Club, a local relief organization, is reaching out to 16 areas across the district. In Chittoor district, RDT is working with RASS, another non-profit organization, to reach out to 12 affected areas.

To address critical medical needs, a medical team arrived in the area on November 29, and since then has treated over 1,300 persons. Ensuring access to medication for chronic patients suffering from diabetes or hypertension issues in the area has been one of the team’s primary goals.

It’s work like this that our #EmpowerAVillage fund helps support — from community infrastructure to rural healthcare. Donate now at www.vffusa.org/eav to help make a difference!
